ECONOMIC CRUNCH: 16 Ageless Quotes That Can Inspire You To Turn The Adversity Into Opportunity

FILE: A sombre suburb in Nigeria

The economy is looking gloomy in many countries across the world. So, if you find yourself caught in the web of one of those drooling economies, one of the factors that can help you survive and even thrive is this...

Remember that every negative situation has a positive implication. This is my personal philosophy that has carried me through some of the worst valleys you can imagine.

Here are words to help you in transforming the ugly adversity into a beautiful opportunity.

1. "Every cloud has a silver lining."
2. "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."
3. "Difficulty is opportunity in disguise."
4. "Challenges are the catalyst for growth."
5. "Every obstacle is a stepping stone to success."
6. "In every adversity, there lies a seed of equivalent benefit."
7. "The darkest night is often the one that precedes the dawn".
8. "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Nelson Mandela
9. "Life's challenges are not supposed to break you, but make you."
10. "The best comes from the worst." - Robert Browning
11. "Adversity is the diamond dust that heaven polishes its jewels with." - Robert Leighton
12. "In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." - Albert Camus
13. "Every Problem is a gift - without problems we would not grow" - Anthony Robbins
14. The idea that one can go through life without conflict or issues arising is unrealistic. Some Might dream of a frictionless ride through the world as the ideal journey, but without some form of bushback, growth is impossible. It is these problems that we face which build our characters, engage our creativity and build humility" - Peter Landau
15. "I have always believed, and still believe, that whatever good and bad fortune may come our way, we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value" - Hermann Hesse
16. "Every positive value has its price in negative terms" - Pablo Picasso

These ageless quotes and phrases encourage us to look beyond the negativity and find the hidden opportunities for growth, learning, and success. As you can see, I haven't been able to find the authors for every one of them. However, their inspiring meanings remain.

So, you may want to go back and reread each of the quotes and meditate on them. Or you can pick just one or two out of them that has inpired you the most and dwell on those for a fairly long time. As you do so, expect miraculous positive transformations in your life despite the daily negative news and experiences.

Finally, I want to point out that nearly all these quotes are from citizens of those countries we envy here in Africa. It should remind us that challenges are not exclusive to Africa. Next, it should remind us that, those countries we envy are the way they are, NOT BECAUSE THEY NEVER HAD STEEP CHALLENGES, but because their citizens stood up to the challenges before them, and built their countries to enable heights. We can too.

Thank you.

How To Handle Your Haters: A Lesson From Bill Gates And His Daughter (2)

Bill and Phoebe Gates. Image credit: Business Insider Do you know what? I learned that, growing up, Bill Gates was too small for his age and was often bullied at school and on the streets. As a result, he had very few friends - no more than two per time. As related in the archives , young Bill was a recluse who spent hours cocooned in his room. Once, during such a social withdrawal, his mom asked after him over the intercom, and Bill shouted back, “ I'm thinking… Have you ever tried thinking? ” The fact is: Young Bill Gates didn't have many friends. Unknown to him, many of his peers snubbed him because a rumor spread around town that “ Bill is the weirdest guy that God ever made ”. As acknowledged by Washington Post's Mark Leibovich, the real issue was that the boy Bill Gates III was an infant prodigy. As a result, he just couldn't get along with most of his peers and vice versa. But, it hardly became an issue to him because his attention was essentially somewhere else....

Meanwhile, it triggered us to start a campaign to better strengthen justice systems against child sexual abuse as you'll see when you click through . Another current case showing that sexual abuse topics seem to be dominating the news is in another African country: Nigeria. It concerns the Senate President of Nigeria Godswill Akpabio and a female senator named Natasha Akpoti. Here's a little of the story to help you in understanding my point in this article. The Story According to BBC , In an interview with Arise Television on Friday, Senator Uduaghan alleged that Akpabio had made inappropriate advances towards her during a visit to his residence in southern Akwa Ibom...
