A Catholic Priest Artist In Our Midst: Meet Father Vitus Nnadi And His Unique, Almost Surreal World

You won't believe such a soul as Father Vitus Nnadi still walks the paved streets of the 21st Century, not a mediaeval country road of the rustic saints. I don't want to waste anyone's time, so let's kick in...

In the solitary undulating rural town of Utuh in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State of Nigeria, there is an outlying Catholic retreat center. It's simply referred to as the Diocesan Pilgrimage Centre or DPC for short.

There's a much longer way to call the name of DPC. But I fear it might break our jaws today. So, let's leave it for another day after our jaws get stronger๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

Or, if you can dare it, watch this short YouTube video tour of Father Nnadi's art studio and hear him call the longer version in his usual dutiful manner.

Welcome back! If you watched the video, what do you think about it? Please, I need the most honest expression of your thoughts at the comment section below๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ”ป๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ”ป๐Ÿ‘‡. Please, let me reiterate it: I need your most honest view of the video view (either here or there).

At DPC Lives The Professional Artist Catholic Priest Fr Nnadi

Nigeria has a major issue with electricity supply from the national grid. But the Nigerian town of Utuh that hosts Father Nnadi's DPC could as well be without any national grid supply: The town gets a supply for far less than once in two weeks and this is no exaggeration at all.

But there in Utuh lives this young 21st century priest all day. He supplies his own water and electricity via a solar installation. And, at least 10 people are on his payroll.

Father even spares a lot for expensive charitable acts which I will detail more on just now. And these things are done predominantly, if not solely via the proceeds from his artwork - as far as I know. Many times, he actually goes hungry just to feed hungry people.

I challenge investigative journalists out there to go into this and tell the world if I told the truth here or not. That's by the way. Now, back to my story...

Surprisingly, Father Nnadi Is One Of The Happiest People I Know

For instance, I've never caught him complaining about these harsh (to you and me) circumstances he lives in. He smiles so effortlessly, especially when he's doing one of his signature charities.

But, Here's What You Might Consider Really Remarkable About The Rector Of DPC

If Fr Nnadi the Rector of DPC lives to be 100, I can almost bet that he would have spent 80 of those either moulding and painting saints of olden days or discussing their virtues. Well, if that shocks you, here's the banger: He might live up to 90 of those actually trying to be like one of the olden-day saints.

My personal appreciation of this is that Fr moulds the saints in mortar, in matter as in mind. Surely, he thinks deeply about them to be able to go any close to recreating their forms.

Father Nnadi actually cuts an uncanny picture of what my subconscious insists St. John Vianney must have looked like - in behavior at least. I wonder who told my subconscious that. But it may have issued from a mental childhood picture I formed of the 18th/19th century French priest.

And for those of you out there saying that all contemporary Nigerian priests and pastors are fake and selfish, here's where I got Fr Nnadi on camera at the counter of Joint Hospital Ozubulu secretly paying the delivery charges for a newborn triplet whose parents couldn't pay...

As I learned later on, the parents of the triplet couldn't pay and the hospital withheld them until they could pay. Someone made an announcement for it over the radio and Father got wind of it. That was all he knew about the benefitting family of such a huge bill that needed a radio announcement to get settled.

Ok, Here Are A Few Photos I Got From Father Vitus Nnadi Art Centre (FVNAC) - According To Me

I have a dream that one day in a distant future, after Fr Nnadi had gone to join his spiritual doppelganger St. John Vianney beyond the clouds, the art studio at DPC was named after him. So, I make bold to suggest the name 'Father Vitus Nnadi Art Centre (FVNAC)' to some future bishop who might be in some womb somewhere now.

Okay, this is getting to be longer than a Pauline epistle. So, here are some of the photos I got from FVNAC.

Let's end it here for now. More to come. Indeed, depending on the response I get from this, a sequel is highly possible because I have a lot to share with the world about this remarkable young Catholic priest cum artist. Kindly share the article before you share your view on it at the comment section.
Thank you.

How To Handle Your Haters: A Lesson From Bill Gates And His Daughter (2)

Bill and Phoebe Gates. Image credit: Business Insider Do you know what? I learned that, growing up, Bill Gates was too small for his age and was often bullied at school and on the streets. As a result, he had very few friends - no more than two per time. As related in the archives , young Bill was a recluse who spent hours cocooned in his room. Once, during such a social withdrawal, his mom asked after him over the intercom, and Bill shouted back, “ I'm thinking… Have you ever tried thinking? ” The fact is: Young Bill Gates didn't have many friends. Unknown to him, many of his peers snubbed him because a rumor spread around town that “ Bill is the weirdest guy that God ever made ”. As acknowledged by Washington Post's Mark Leibovich, the real issue was that the boy Bill Gates III was an infant prodigy. As a result, he just couldn't get along with most of his peers and vice versa. But, it hardly became an issue to him because his attention was essentially somewhere else....
