I used to be an averagely toxic person. In those days, I was always ready to trash-talk someone. And, I was always ready for a brawl.
Many times, I even got angry with my loved ones because they had problems but I couldn't help them. Imagine such insanity!
The only good news was, I was hardly ever the first to seek trouble. But, yes, I was always laser-ready to hit you back if you hit me in any way. It's why I think my toxicity level was only average rather than over the top.
But, I've discovered that since I became financially up-to-date, I am no longer this way. Now, even if you call me an idiot, I don't even think of calling you an idiot back.
I realize that the main reason for this radical change of attitude is that, now, I am always focused on something I can do to create more value. So, I see every conflicting situation as an avoidable source of distraction.
Because, you know what? You can't add any value to anything unless you create the value. Any value not created by you can never be truly yours no matter how much you try to steal it.
So, a high-value person naturally seeks an opportunity to be mentally composed. Because, original values can only be created from your own mind.
Therefore, from my change of attitude, I learned that, if I'm toxic, it means I'm a low value person. On the contrary, high value people see toxicity as a means of dissipating mental energy that should have been used for creating needed values.
Another reason I discovered for my new attitude is that, now, I'm more likely to be compassionate - rather than angry - with toxic people. This is what I mean...
Let's assume that one of the broke guys in town calls me an idiot for not buying him alcoholic beverages at a local shop, do you know what happens instantly?
I simply feel pity for the guy. It's because I'm certain that I'm better than him. Sorry if I sound arrogant here, but I need to say it as it is.
This is what will help you to understand how I feel in the face of such unwarranted street toxicity: Imagine a publicly mad person calling you “a mad man” at a local shop! How would you feel towards the mad person?
Of course, you'll experience mixed emotion that include:
Amusement at the irony of a well-known mad person calling you “mad”.
Pity for the stupidity of the toxicity of his insanity.
Anger at whatever caused such cosmic failure.
More
You now understand how I feel? So, I urge everyone reading this to learn to give up low value living. Even if you're not wealthy now, learn to think like high-value people and see how fast you will attract high values beyond your mental atmosphere. I'm talking from experience.
There is no other way to be truly wealthy except by creating values - ie. stuff that truly benefits someone. And there's no way to create those values without being fundamentally value-oriented.
And you can't be value-oriented without hating distractions that impede the creation of values. And the only way you can be certain that you hate the distractions is that you avoid them by all means.
And, how can you avoid them by all means and still be toxic or respond to toxicity? Because toxicity is, by nature, a source of mental distraction.
NOTE: When I was writing this article on Google Doc, I thought of the name I'd use to save the file so that it doesn't get lost in the mix because of how much I value it. The name that suggested itself was “toxicity is failure”.
Now, that has become a favorite saying of mine. And, in case you're guessing, a screenshot of this is what I used as the title image above👆.
