My fellow hardcore Obidients,
First off, let me congratulate you for keeping up with the struggle after many faint-hearted comrades have given up due to the heavy forces of corruption. To be honest with you, you are the only reason why I haven't cursed the day I was born an African.
Nothing inspires hope in me than to know that there are still Africans like you who insist on sharing a glorious future with the rest of humanity. Otherwise, I would have seen the next 2 to 3 generations of Africans reckoned among the beasts of burden.
And this isn't hard at all to tell: If you watch the rate at which America, Europe, and even Asia, Australia and South America are advancing relative to the ever backward movement of Africa, you might agree with me.
But, Let's Leave That For Another Day Lest I Bore You To The Point Of Missing My Present Message -Since It Is Extremely Important
Kindly permit me to quickly ask you for a favor on 5 counts...
✅ Don't ever give up the struggle.
✅As 2027 approaches, let's begin now to prioritize information and rekindle the 'Obidient' flame🔥.
✅ Let's starve, rather than feed, the adversarial content creators.
✅ Let's dominate the Nigerian web space from now - see how
✅ Let's be ready for offline representation whenever the occasion calls for it.
Now, let's take these points in brief details. Fasten your belts for a great ride...
✅ DON'T EVER GIVE UP THE STRUGGLE:
Go through the pages of history and you'd see that it has never happened that the forces of darkness finally ever overcame the Power of Light which you represent in Nigeria.
Whether in the United States in the days of Martin Luther King Jr or in India in the days of Mohandas Gandhi or in our own South Africa in the days of Rolihlahla Mandela, in Nigeria now in the days of Peter Obi or anywhere else,...
it always comes to a point where it seems that darkness would overcome light. But no, it never happens at last. So, please stay in touch.
Watch how the forces of darkness are currently in panic mode in Nigeria against Mr. Peter Obi, and you'll know without a doubt that you are on a path of victory. Pro-establishment Nigerians are making a career out of demarketing a man they said came third in an election that was held over a year ago. Every news page about Obi draws crowds with the speed of light.
It's an evidence that you're getting it right. So please, keep hitting harder. Of course, the corrupt establishment must fight. They must orchestrate a campaign of calumny against the light.
If it happened to Moses, Jesus Christ, Prophet Muhammad, and all the greatest people in history, who are we that it wouldn't happen to us?
But then, just as our forbears overcame, so must we. It's absolutely non-negotiable.
✅ AS 2027 APPROACHES, LET'S BEGIN NOW TO PRIORITIZE INFORMATION AND REKINDLE THE 'OBIDIENT' FLAME 🔥:
Something happened to me during the countdown to the 2023 Nigerian Election season. After reading the article that Professor Soludo wrote against the candidacy of Mr. Peter Obi, I knew the extent of damage it would cause.
So, I set out to write a rejoinder to the Soludo article to correct the strong wrong impressions he created around the person of Mr. Peter Obi. After writing the rejoinder, I sent it to all the mainstream media houses and many popular content creators in Nigeria, including Linda Ikeji. But none of them published it.
Out of frustration and desperation, I began to share it directly on social media. I even created a YouTube video version of it and placed a link to the Google Doc version at the description section.
I pushed the video until it got up to 800 views. But I was surprised that the Obidients weren't willing to reshare the information. And I understood it was because I wasn't one of the loudest voices. Yet I knew I made points that more than adequately addressed the points Soludo raised in his article.
Because I wasn't having it financially rosy then, I couldn't invest money into promoting the rejoinder. Now, I tell you that the Soludo article may have contributed over 50% to the reasons why the Obi-Datti Campaigns lost strategic support in places like the North and Southwest, which ultimately led to Obi not getting the seat of the President despite the huge force of the Obidient Movement that cut across regions, religions, ethnicity, and a host of other backgrounds.
That tells you the power of solid information whether positive or negative to any cause. It also tells you how corrupt the mainstream media is especially in Nigeria. It only promotes narratives to the extent that it gets monetary rewards, and hardly ever for the advancement of society.
Most people - especially in Nigeria - don't have a mind of their own like the average Obidient out there does. So, they are influenced only by the information that touches their minds the most.
Therefore, if we Obidients must overcome the forces of darkness in Nigeria far sooner than imagined, then, we must make adequate use of the bright bright 🌞 🌞 light of information especially as it pertains to social media. Thus, instead of quarreling with non-Obidients online, let's use the opportunity to inform and educate them on the path we have chosen, and win them over for their and our own good.
✅ LET'S STARVE, RATHER THAN FEED, THE ADVERSARIAL CONTENT CREATORS
As I said earlier, one big proof that Mr. Peter Obi remains a force to reckon with in Nigerian politics despite the charade called the 2023 Nigerian Presidential Elections, is that his name continues to draw the strongest attention within the Nigerian web space.
Knowing this and realizing the energy of conviction in the Obidients that makes them always ready to defend their principal, many popular and upcoming content creators now take undue advantage of the huge traffic of the Obidients. They do this by taking an adversarial approach in order to generate feverish engagement.
This is actually the main reason that inspired this message. I was on X when one of the adversarial Disobidient content creators started one of their many unwarranted attacks on the person of Mr. Peter Obi as you can see…
It's obvious all she needed was the attention of the Obidient crowds. She wanted to force engagement by making the Obidients argue with her.
Unfortunately,
Unfortunately, many Obidients fell for the bait, thereby feeding their adversary so sumptuously. Thus encouraging her to keep creating more anti-Obi content...
Instead of this, I call on the Obidient Family to learn to ignore such content. An old saying goes that “silence is the best answer to a fool”. It still works.
Give attention to the toxic content creators and you feed their toxicity and pockets the more. But ignore them for months, and see them die naturally.
Indeed, I would suggest unfollowing and blocking every content creator as soon as he/she goes against this important cause. On the contrary, if you continue to listen to them, not only that you're feeding your foe to fight you more ferociously, he/she could also influence your mindset and resolve to begin to back down or softpedal on the struggle.
Please, keep reading and see...
✅ LET'S DOMINATE THE NIGERIAN WEB SPACE FROM NOW - SEE HOW
Most Nigerians are not fools. So, they know that the Obidients are the ones following the right path that leads to a great future. It's just that hunger makes many of them sell their birthrights like the Biblical Esau.
I understand them too. Hunger isn't easy to bear. The corrupt establishment knows this and has taken elaborate measures to weaponize poverty against the Nigerian masses. However, my point is that this means that potential and actual Obidients are in an overwhelming majority in the country. Of course, this can only be the reason every news item about Mr. Obi keeps getting such an avalanche of attention and engagement.
Politics is ever a game of numbers and the well-meaning Nigerians (nay, the Obidients) are in the majority as we've just seen. What remains is for us to utilize this majority number adequately to achieve our goal faster without wasting precious time. How can we do this?
This is what I suggest: Let's make Obidient-related hashtags and topics trend consistently as they did during the 2023 election season. Then, let's use this to push constructive information updating educated Nigerians about the vital elements of our message and why they are indispensable for the emancipation of our society.
For instance, in line with my message here, I would like us to make hashtags like #ObidientsAreTheHope or #ObidientsLetsGo or #Obidients2027 trend. We can continue to add it to our tweets and other social media posts for weeks, thereby dominating the arena with only our positive energy, enthusiasm, and information.
✅ LET'S BE READY FOR OFFLINE REPRESENTATION WHENEVER THE OCCASION CALLS FOR IT
Online commitment is great. But without giving it an offline expression, your online commitment would be like a brand new Rolls Royce Boatail without wheels. In other words, despite its great value, it wouldn't be able to manifest its most needed functionality.
Therefore, if indeed we want to fight for a great future for our unborn generations, we need to be on the streets too. But we are not. How do I know?
Last year, I was attacked physically on two occasions in Delta State for expressing open support for the Obidient Movement. In none of those instances did I have a single person coming up to take sides with me. But on those occasions, the guys that attacked me were in groups and were bold.
If this could happen in Delta State where the Obi-Datti ticket won, imagine what would happen elsewhere. It's no wonder many Obidients were openly disenfranchised in Lagos and no one stood with them to defend them on the street until they shared their experiences online. Conclusion
As I explained in one of my messages during the election season last year, although the Obidient Movement espouses the values and worldviews of Mr. Peter Obi as manifested in his public life, we need to see it beyond a person. Therefore, let the word ‘Obidient’ stand for “obedience to one's healthy conscience”. I remember writing a poem with this line then.
So, let's continue with that spirit. Our adversaries are ever quick to pick on every weakness of Obi - whether real or contrived - as their reason for discouraging us. But, as I always tell them, I know that Mr. Peter Obi is human and has his frailties. But, one thing I am absolutely sure about, after observing his public life for a long time, is that Obi truly cares about the masses, indeed the only one of Nigeria’s prominent politicians I know who truly cares about the suffering Nigerians.
And I know this because of the huge sacrifices he is known to have made in the interest of the people - unlike any other Nigerian prominent politician I know. For instance, even the Buhari Administration couldn't but acknowledge that Obi was impeached as the Governor of Anambra State for refusing to inflate the state budget against the norm.
Which other Nigerian politician ever risked so much for the people?
I can write or talk about these non-stop for a whole day all because it is as true as day. There are many examples of these ‘un-Nigerian’ kinds of sacrifices with which Obi has won the hearts of many well-meaning Nigerians.
But even if Mr. Peter Obi should change and become corrupt today, the Obidient Movement remains standing on the foundations of these values we have imbibed from his public life. So, the Movement is mainly not about a person but about the principles we found in a person which must outlive the person.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Desmond Chinedu Nweke
